Hypnosis is a powerful tool for achieving corrective change and becoming more of who you want to be. It offers a gentle, effective approach to many of life's challenges.
If you're ready for self-improvement by building self-confidence and self-esteem, improving your sleep, losing weight, boosting your productivity, or releasing the limiting beliefs that have held you back, hypnosis can help you get there. Moreover, if you're dealing with chronic pain, fatigue, IBS, anxiety, or a phobia, hypnosis can provide real, lasting relief.
I'm Jane, a certified hypnotist and NLP practitioner with a background in clinical science and a long career in healthcare. My focus is simple: helping you create lasting change from the inside out.
Norman Vincent Peale
Hypnosis has a long and fascinating history. Trance states were used for healing in ancient Egypt, Greece, and India thousands of years ago. In the late 1700s, an Austrian physician named Franz Anton Mesmer brought hypnosis-like practices into the European spotlight, and in the 1840s, a Scottish surgeon, James Braid, introduced the modern terms "hypnotism" and "hypnosis." Around the same period, a surgeon named James Esdaile documented 345 major operations performed using hypnosis as the sole anesthetic, well before the advent of chemical anesthetics.
Medical hypnosis has continued to evolve ever since, acting as a powerful tool for self-improvement. The British Medical Association formally endorsed it in 1955, followed by both the American Medical Association and the Canadian Medical Association in 1958. Today, hypnosis is utilized by doctors, dentists, and nurses in hospitals and clinics around the globe to assist patients in managing pain, anxiety, and various other concerns, facilitating corrective change in their lives.
So, why does hypnosis still feel a bit mysterious to most people? Largely due to its portrayal in cartoons, old movies, and stage shows. The image of a swinging pocket watch and someone clucking like a chicken makes for great entertainment — but it has very little to do with the actual experience in a session.
Here's the truth: during hypnosis, you remain fully aware and in complete control. No one can compel you to do anything that contradicts your values. What you'll experience is a deeply relaxed state, somewhere between wakefulness and sleep — much like meditation. Most individuals describe it as one of the most peaceful feelings they've encountered. The change you came seeking is the bonus.
